I had no idea I had missed listening to my old goth metal mp3s that much. I guess Sins of Thy Beloved aged well, and the string solos are still pretty awesome. It does help that my soundbox is loads better than it used to be back when I listened to it all the time... the growly parts are actually intelligible!

Amusingly enough I've always assumed the solos were violin, but I now realize I have no confirmation it's the case. :x

I still think some selections from SoTB and early Theatre of Tragedy would make a pretty darn sweet soundtrack for Violinist of Hameln. XDD

I know I've corrupted introduced VoH to a couple of people here, and others have known about it before. The thing is:

Watanabe Michiaki has started a sequel to VoH, entitled "VoH: Shchelkunchik", in january; it's described as the heroes' children's adventures, but, as corny as this summary is, it's proven to be a great read in the 12 chapters that have been released so far. ( Here I go into some details, including plot, characters and all the reasons why I squee about it. )

And the point of my posting about all of this: in the hameln community at livejournal, a german fan (meilleuru) has been scanning and posting the chapters as they come out, and I have been translating as well as I can and, lately, making scanlations. All of this is posted to the hameln community. But since the hameln community has been kind of empty, and I don't know how many outside fans actually check it out, and the mod seems to have abandoned their journal...

Anyone interested in a hameln community here? I would post my translations and scanlations and I could actually get feedback on the job I'm doing (since they give none, and sometimes type in rather mangled english to boot), and the hameln fans here could get all this juicy stuff without leaving the comfort of their flists. So? Who's for it?

My parents went to Fortaleza for their 25th marriage anniversary. Considering most people I know haven't lasted 10 years without divorcing, I guess it is kind of amazing. Here's hoping they have fun and don't bicker themselves into oblivion. I'm also hoping they'll see the need to buy a newer, better digital camera while sightseeing, but that's neither here nor there.

Meanwhile, I'm finishing one of my first VoH pics in a while.

It's been raining for hours, and it doesn't look like it's gonna stop.

So I'm just gonna laze around all day. I mean, I've only got wood block printing today, and... I've kinda finished the 8 mandatory works for the period. It's not like I'm missing something mightly important.

I might just finally find it in myself to scan that pile of wood block prints and update my Devart with some serious content.

So my mom has this friend of hers, an old lady who started university along with her (she was 21, old lady was 50-something XD). They're very close and, now that the poor lady is sickly and old, mom always goes to visit her and make her company. She'd take us along when we were small, I was so used to her I was surprised when mom told me she wasn't my grandmother by blood. Me and sis still call her Grandma Helena.

I gotta tell you, Grandma Helena's son Mauro is officially Jesus. Or Santa.

Now for something completely different: My mother's best friend's son (I'll give you a moment to do the math in your head) is going to Japan for work (he works at Petrobras, anybody heard about it? *curious* It's pretty big in here) and totally offered to buy manga for me. I immediatelly jumped up and asked for anything Hameln (how could I not?), but, understanding he doesn't know much about manga, japanese or japanese bookstores, I explained it would probably be found second-hand only and to not try too hard since it was just a silly favor. But to bring 1 Kingdom Hearts volume if VoH failed. *dork* He's such a nice guy, though I always felt sort of inadequate in front of his daughter. His job is safe and pays well, so she got to do and have a lot of stuff I could never even dream about :x It makes me very uncomfortable to talk to her so I try not to contact them very often, which is really horrible now that I think about it.
